What do you really know about the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office?
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office is an important part of our local government, yet many of us know surprisingly little about what it does, how it operates, or why it differs from sheriff’s offices in neighboring counties. Desha L. Hearn will help us better understand this familiar but often unseen institution and explain why Davidson County’s approach to corrections has attracted attention from across the country.
Join the Green Hills Rotary Club at 7:15 a.m. on September 4 at the Boy Scout Service Center on Hillsboro Road for a behind-the-scenes look at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
Hearn serves as the Sheriff’s Citizens’ Academy Coordinator for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and also works on special projects. During her six years with the DCSO, she has had the opportunity to see firsthand how the office operates and what distinguishes its work from that of surrounding sheriff’s offices.
Before joining the DCSO, Hearn worked in the business community, primarily with nonprofit organizations. Her commitment to community service also extends beyond her professional responsibilities. She has been a member of the Donelson-Hermitage Exchange Club since 2006 and has served as co-chair of the organization’s Field of Honor since the event began in 2016.
Hearn and her husband, H.A., live in Hermitage. They have one son, Sam, who is married, and three grandchildren.
Come hear Hearn explain the distinctive role of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and offer an inside look at an organization that has earned a national reputation for its work in corrections. It is an opportunity to learn more about an important local institution and a side of Davidson County government that many residents rarely get to see.
