Green Hills stands at a crossroads—surrounded by growth, yet rich in legacy. Do we simply respond to change, or do we take charge of it? The Alliance for Green Hills, under the leadership of Norah Buikstra, is reimagining how our neighborhood can evolve with intention. This is more than planning; it is an invitation to become active stewards of our community’s future.
Join the Green Hills Rotary Club on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 7:15 a.m. at the Boy Scout Service Center, where Norah Buikstra, General Manager of The Mall at Green Hills and Chair of The Alliance for Green Hills, will share an inspiring look into the initiatives shaping our neighborhood. In her talk, We Are All for Green Hills: Through the Alliance for Green Hills, Ms. Buikstra will explore a forward-looking vision for a thriving, connected, and people-centered Green Hills.
Norah Buikstra grew up in Kansas and earned a professional degree in Architecture from the University of Kansas. She began her graduate studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, then worked at an architecture firm before transitioning into construction management for a retail developer—a role that proved to be a perfect fit given her passion for all aspects of the retail world.
In 2001, Ms. Buikstra moved to Nashville to become Operations Director at MGH, later stepping into the role of General Manager in 2019. Her time living in Kansas, Chicago, and Miami shaped her dynamic approach to leadership and community engagement.
Beyond her work with MGH and its tenants, she was appointed by Mayor Cooper to Chair the Convention Center Authority Board, where she now continues to serve. She also serves as Chair of the Alliance for Green Hills, Chair of the Business Conditions Council, and is an active member of Downtown Rotary.
Outside of work, Ms. Buikstra and her husband, Clark, make annual pilgrimages to the wilds of outback Alaska. Now empty nesters, they enjoy attending Nashville Predators games, and Ms. Buikstra remains an enthusiastic tennis player.
