An Entrepreneur’s Perspective on Higher Education

Speaker Friday, December 6, 2024

Join us on November 29, 2024, for an insightful breakfast with Harry Allen, Chief Financial Officer of Belmont University, who will share how his journey from banking to entrepreneurship has shaped his approach to innovation and leadership.

Allen’s professional story is one of strategic adaptation. As co-founder of Studio Bank – Nashville’s first locally headquartered bank since 2008 – he has guided the institution to significant growth, achieving approximately $1 billion in total assets and employing over 80 professionals.

His career trajectory reveals a rich professional journey. Prior to launching Studio Bank in 2018, Allen served as Senior Vice President and Director of Nonprofit Banking and Community Investment at Avenue Bank for six years, where he successfully launched the organization’s nonprofit and institutional industry segment. His leadership experience extends beyond banking, with significant roles at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee and Suntrust Bank (now Truist).

Currently recognized among Nashville’s influential leaders – including being named in Nashville Power Poll’s 2024 Most Powerful People and a multi-year member of the Nashville Business Journal’s Nashville Power 100 – Allen offers unique perspectives on organizational development and community engagement.

His community involvement extends beyond professional achievements. Allen serves on the Board of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, acts as Treasurer of the Nashville Public Education Foundation, and is a past President of the Rotary Club of Nashville.

This breakfast presentation offers an educational opportunity to understand how innovative leadership can drive institutional success and community impact. As a double graduate of Belmont University, Allen embodies the connection between financial expertise, entrepreneurial thinking, and community commitment.
