Nutrition is a crucial, yet often overlooked, component of cancer care—not only for the patient, but also for the family whose world is upended by caregiving responsibilities. While medicine fights the disease, food supports the body, calms the mind, and strengthens the spirit for everyone involved. The Heimerdinger Foundation embraces this holistic view through its Meals 4 Health and Healing program, which provides nutritious meals and meaningful education to patients, caregivers, and youth volunteers alike. By nourishing the entire household, the Foundation helps relieve some of the physical and emotional strain of caregiving—because when families are well-fed, they are better equipped to sustain the energy, focus, and compassion that healing demands.
The Green Hills Rotary Club welcomes Bijal Mehta, Program and Education Manager at The Heimerdinger Foundation’s Meals 4 Health and Healing program, as the featured speaker at its meeting on Friday, August 14, 2025, at 7:15 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Boy Scout Service Center on Hillsboro Road.
Ms. Mehta brings nearly three decades of professional experience in mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and has served with the Meals 4 Health and Healing program for approximately eight years. In addition to her leadership at The Heimerdinger Foundation, Ms. Mehta is a freelance educator focused on community safety and caregiver training. She is also a member of the Mayor’s New American Advisory Council, which advocates on issues affecting immigrant communities and shares those insights with government leaders.
