Speaker Friday, January 3, 2024
Imagine a city where one in five adults struggles with basic reading and writing. This isn’t a hypothetical scenario—it’s the reality in Nashville today. On January 3, 2025, the Green Hills Rotary Club will Learn how Nashville Adult Literacy Council is working to change these statistics.
Sarah Martino, a dynamic leader in Nashville’s nonprofit sector, brings both corporate expertise and community service experience to this critical discussion. Her journey from supply chain management at Dollar General to nonprofit leadership exemplifies the impact one person can have on their community. After earning her Master’s in Nonprofit Leadership from Belmont University, Martino channeled her business acumen into creating positive social change.
Her innovative spirit shines through initiatives like Service Suds, a signature project she helped launch as a charter member of the Nashville Sunset Rotary Club. Now, as part of the Nashville Adult Literacy Council’s executive team, Martino leads efforts to empower adults with essential literacy skills—helping both longtime residents and newcomers thrive in our community.
This 7:15 a.m. meeting at the Green Hills Rotary Club offers more than just insights into Nashville’s literacy challenges. It’s an opportunity to learn how you can be part of the solution. Whether you’re passionate about education, community development, or making Nashville a more inclusive city, this discussion will provide practical ways to get involved.
