Join us on November 8, 2024, at 7:15 AM to learn how charter schools are providing quality education.
Charter schools are public schools operated by independent, non-profit governing bodies. In Tennessee, public charter school students are measured against the same academic standards as students in other public schools. Tennessee is one of 43 states, including the District of Columbia, that permit charter schools. Tennessee’s charter law was enacted in 2002.
Our speaker, Dwayne Tucker, the CEO of LEAD Public Schools, brings his professional experience and a personal story that resonates with many. Raised in Nashville by a single parent, Mr. Tucker attended public schools and graduated from Tennessee State University in 1980. He has a profound understanding of the educational system and its impact on students’ lives. After a successful career, including serving as President of Transaction Services at Alliance Data until his retirement in 2009, Mr. Tucker became the CEO of LEAD Public Schools in 2018.
Under his leadership, LEAD has focused on empowering students and transforming the educational experience for those in underserved communities.
