Dwight Johnson, Executive Director of Preston Taylor Ministries

Preston Taylor Ministries empowers Preston Taylor children and youth to discover and live their God-inspired dreams, develop a love for learning, and build joy-filled friendships that glorify Christ Jesus. PTM’s vision is that as image bearers of Christ, Preston Taylor Ministries youth will use their God-given gifts to become agents of joy and hope to the current and next generation.

Dwight Johnson has dedicated the last 15 years to youth and family ministry in both Mississippi where he is from and now in Nashville, Tennessee. Dwight connected with various youth organizations through graduate school work at Memphis Theological Seminary and the Center for Youth Ministry Training. Dwight was placed at Preston Taylor Ministries, an organization whose mission is to help youth and children discover joy-filled friendships, develop a love for learning, and to live out their God-inspired dreams, and worked as the middle school youth director. In 2020, Dwight accepted a position with The Center for Youth Ministry Training overseeing initiative and strategy work with the nationally known organization. During this time, Dwight served as a Board of Director for PTM and in 2021, Dwight was appointed Executive Director at PTM where he currently oversees all of PTM’s programming, advancemen0,t and operational objectives. In addition to serving in this role, Dwight also teaches youth ministry elective courses for Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas at the Center for Youth Ministry Training.

Having served both in the local church and in parachurch organizations, Dwight loves working with teenagers, specifically middle schoolers and enjoys seeing youth reach their potential. He is the author of Black Boy Soar, a children’s book written to help inspire and encourage young people of color to dream big, know who they are and what they are capable of! In addition, Dwight continues to partner with other organizations throughout the South as a curriculum and content developer and speaker helping to create theological content for workshops, retreats, and conferences aimed to guide youth to think critically about their faith and where their personal creation collides with greater purpose with the hope to inspire the next generation of the church to be world changers. 

Dwight is a graduate of Millsaps College where he received the Bachelor of Arts in music and is a cum laude graduate of Memphis Theological Seminary through the Center for Youth Ministry Training where he received his Master of Arts in Youth Ministry.
