Eric Hutton, Owner Hutton Advertising, LLC,–The GHR Website and Social Media

Speaker Friday, November 18, 2022

Every organization needs a quality presence online. That means a grea looking website that loads quickly on slow mobile devices. It also means a presence on Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) and other social media. However, an organization with a weekly meeting, like the Green Hills Rotary Club can easily create a simple social media presence to reach people where they typically visit. Eric Hutton, Owner of Hutton Advertising, will demonstrate the relatively new website for Green Hills Rotary and the systems he has setup in order to automatically integrate social media.

Eric Hutton has been building websites since about 2004. In order to be responsive to customer needs, his focus has shifted considerably over these almost 20 years. In the beginning, converting a graphic file to HTML making it display well on a desktop was all that was required and many of the then existing sites were relatively easy to find. Today, no website is easy to find without significant help. His company has to balance mobile and desktop devices, marketing scripts for the owner to track visitors and content, and deliver content faster than ever before (usually in 2-4 seconds or less. ) The website also has to be connected to other platforms like Google Business Profile, Facebook, LinkedIn.

Mr. Hutton earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1990 and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1994. He worked for 10 years as an Environmental Engineer at the State of Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and then at E. Roberts Alley and Associates. During that time he worked on database analysis as well as various internal and external committees to encourage industry and environmental groups to work together and work to improve the ability of TDEC to deliver its services. In about 2004, Mr. Hutton established Practical Programs, Inc. to provide database consulting and website development. In 2011 he formed Hutton Advertising to ad billboard advertising to his professional service list. As marketing needs have evolved Hutton Advertising has added support for local search results, sarch engine optimization, and basic social media exposure.

In his spare time enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and running, singing in his church choir, and is an active member of the Green Hills Rotary Club and Vine Street Christian Church. He recently served as a Cub Master for the Middle Tennessee Council of the Boy Scouts of America and finds himself helping organizations his middle school daughter joins.
