Join us for an illuminating breakfast session with Matthew Bourlakis, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, Inc., on November 15, 2024, at 7:15 AM.
Under Bourlakis’s leadership since 2013, Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee has grown to employ over 1,500 team members, operating 32 retail stores and 40 donation sites across 48 Tennessee counties. The organization champions job creation, skills training, and environmental sustainability through innovative reuse and recycling programs. Their comprehensive initiatives extend beyond employment to support education, financial stability, and community well-being.
Bourlakis brings rich nonprofit experience to his role. He began his career as Director of Communication with the Mental Health Association of America before joining the Nashville Area Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1998, where he served in multiple leadership positions. As the inaugural Chief Operating Officer at Second Harvest Food Bank, he oversaw mission services, operations, and Project Preserve, the food bank’s social enterprise.
A graduate of the University of the South with a Master’s in Mass Communication from the University of South Carolina, Bourlakis is also an alumnus of Leadership Middle Tennessee and Leadership Nashville. His professional contributions include service on the Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Nashville Branch. When not leading Goodwill’s mission, he enjoys music, golf, and spending quality time with his wife and two daughters.
