In a time when many question how to prepare the next generation for leadership, Scouting continues to offer a structured, values-driven path toward personal growth and civic responsibility. With programs that now include both young men and women, the Middle Tennessee Council of Scouting America remains one of the region’s strongest youth development organizations. From weeklong summer camps at Boxwell to high adventure experiences at Latimer Reservation and Grimes Canoe Base, Scouting is shaping young lives through challenge, service, and community.
Join the Green Hills Rotary Club for an insightful presentation by Robert Johnson, the new Scout Executive and CEO of the Middle Tennessee Council of Scouting America. The meeting will take place at 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2025, at the Boy Scout Service Center on Hillsboro Road. We are grateful to the Middle Tennessee Council for hosting this meeting in their facility and for their ongoing support of our club.
Mr. Johnson will introduce himself to the club and share his vision for the future of Scouting in Middle Tennessee. His remarks will include updates on current programs, evolving priorities, and how the Council is adapting to serve a new generation of youth. This presentation promises to be both informative and uplifting, offering a glimpse into how Scouting continues to impact young people and strengthen communities.
Born and raised in Alabama, Mr. Johnson joined Scouting as a Tiger Cub and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business with a focus in accounting from the University of Alabama and has worked professionally with Scouting America since 2002. His career has taken him to Councils in Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and now Tennessee.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Johnson enjoys University of Alabama sports, outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife Elizabeth and their five children. He is also active in his church and community, with a special commitment to youth mentorship.
