What happens after a city makes a historic commitment to transform how people move? In November 2024, Nashville voters approved a sweeping transit initiative, signaling a new era for mobility across Davidson County. Now, the real work is underway. What progress has been made, and what changes will residents begin to see in their daily lives?
Join the Green Hills Rotary Club on April 10 at 7:15 am at the Boy Scout Service Center on Hillsboro Road for a presentation by Stephen Bland, CEO of WeGo Public Transit. Following the passage of Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s Choose How You Move Transit Improvement Program, Nashville has begun implementing a range of projects and service enhancements designed to expand mobility options for residents. Bland will provide an inside look at the initiatives currently underway, as well as the measurable progress achieved to date.
Bland serves as CEO of the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority and the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee, both operating as WeGo Public Transit. Since arriving in Nashville in August 2014, he has brought more than 25 years of transit leadership experience to the region. Prior to his role in Nashville, Bland held chief executive positions in transit agencies in York, Pennsylvania; Albany, New York; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Over the course of his career, he has served as Chairman of both the New York and Pennsylvania Public Transportation Associations, as a Board Member of the American Public Transportation Association, and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Public Transportation Association.
