Steve Grissim, “Moving from Awareness to Action”–Human Trafficking

Speaker Friday, October 7, 2022

Steve Grissim is a native Nashvillian and attended DLHS K-12, which makes him a “lifer.”  Steve graduated from Harding University with a BBA in 1986. Grissim is currently developing the Campus for End Slavery TN along with assisting Ashleigh Chapman with Altus Solutions.

Grissim’s Rotary Service began in February of 2008, serving on the Board for the Rotary Club of Brentwood for eight years while serving as Club President in 2017-18.  He currently serves as Assistant District Governor for District 6760 (Middle and West Tennessee) and Chairs the committee on Human Trafficking for D6760.

Grissim became truly engaged with the topic of Human Trafficking while attending the Rotary International Convention in Atlanta in 2017.  Since that time, it has become part of his DNA and passion to educate and provide awareness not only to the Rotary Club of Brentwood and District 6760 but also to Rotary Int’l through the action group RAGAS, Rotary Action Group Against Slavery

He served on the Board of End Slavery TN the past three years as Chair of the Governance Committee and served on the Board of RAGAS.  Grissim currently serves as an Ambassador for the State of TN for RAGAS.

He serves on the Business Council of the NP, AFRJ, The Alliance for Freedom Restoration and Justice.  The Business Council engages businesses to use their resources to help combat HT. Currently Grissim’s focus has been collaborating with the TN Governor’s Office, Department of Labor, DCS, End Slavery TN, Thistle Farms and Viable on administering a jobs program for ladies that were either trafficked or experienced either homelessness or domestic violence.  One of his greatest concerns is for kids aging out of and are currently in our Foster Care System.
