Every day, hundreds of children and families arrive at the hospital facing challenges they never anticipated. While exceptional medical care is essential to their healing, compassionate volunteers provide something equally important: comfort, hope, and a welcoming presence during difficult moments. Discover how just a few hours of service can have a meaningful impact on the lives of young patients, their families, and the dedicated hospital staff who care for them.
Join the Green Hills Rotary Club on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 7:15 a.m. at the Boy Scout Service Center on Hillsboro Road as we welcome Cindy Comperry, Assistant Director of Volunteer Services at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Comperry will share how community volunteers support the hospital’s mission and explain the many opportunities available for individuals who want to make a meaningful difference through service.
A native Tennessean, Comperry spent her early years in Nashville before her family moved to West Tennessee. After earning a journalism degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, she returned to Nashville, where she has built a career dedicated to nonprofit fundraising, volunteer engagement, and community service.
Following positions in public relations, communications, and advertising, Comperry served nine years with the American Cancer Society in marketing, communications, and development roles. She is now in her seventeenth year at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. After spending sixteen years in the Development Department as Director of the Friends of Children’s Hospital program, she recently joined the Volunteer Services office, where she focuses on community engagement, volunteer promotion, and volunteer recruitment.
Whether you are looking for a meaningful way to give back or are interested in learning more about the hospital’s volunteer programs, this meeting will offer one way to make an extraordinary difference in the lives of children and their families.
