Have you heard of LEED, WELL or ESG? What about Embodied Carbon? Hannah Walter will present a general overview of what’s happening in the building design and construction industry in terms of sustainability and health and wellness. Ms. Walter will provide what she has seen for current projects as well as trends for the future.
Ms. Walter is the Sustainability Consulting Manager at Smith Seckman Reid in Nashville. Since joining SSR in 2007, Hannah has developed a passion for sustainability and energy efficiency. She was one of their first colleagues to earn the WELL AP accreditation and has been able to educate and guide clients on all things sustainability, health and wellness.
Ms. Walter manages and provides technical consulting services for sustainability projects in the built environment across the US. Hannah is an expert in LEED, WELL, Energy Star, and other green building rating systems. In addition to general sustainability consulting, Ms. Walter has expertise in Daylight Modeling, Whole-Building Life Cycle Analysis, and Energy Modeling. Her background as a former mechanical design engineer after graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree from TN Technological University, gave her a strong foundation in building systems and construction administration for mixed-use, commercial, healthcare, sports, and education projects.
Ms. Walter teaches a class as an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt University every spring in the Civil Engineering department’s Construction Management degree program on High Performance and Green Buildings. Students that take the class are set up to graduate the course with a LEED Green Associate credential, which prepares them to bring sustainability to their projects in the design and construction industry.
